Pelosi accuses GOP of political stunt

It seems ironic that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (pictured) accuses the GOP of a political stunt for saying she should do her job instead of pulling a political stunt of her own in the Middle East.

Of course, she is secure in the reality that the liberal media will downplay her political stunt while making headlines when the GOP wonders why she doesn’t stop meddling in the Middle East and do her job as Speaker of the House.

Hmm … is she wanting headlines in the news so she can inch closer to becoming Hillary’s vice-presidential running mate in 2008? Naw - Hillary is too smart for that.

The Pelosi trip to the Middle East was a way to hold up funding for the troops and gain notoriety for herself at the same time.

Democrats control congress with blank scorecard

Since the Democrats took majority control of congress in January, they have yet to show a desire to govern.

The House passed bills raising the minimum wage, promoting stem cell research and providing student loan breaks.

The Senate passed only one -- the minimum wage hike -- and it's hung up over disagreements on the size of small business tax breaks to include.

That means the Democrat controlled Congress is batting zero.

Maybe the Democrats like it that way.

When South Dakota Senator Tom Daschle (pictured) was Senate Majority Leader, before losing his re-election bid in 2004, the Senate was virtually deadlocked.

Daschle led filibusters along with other blocking tactics kept legislative action at a near standstill.

Legislative action in the Senate is back to where it was in 2003 and 2004.

Bush critic Sheehan blasts Democrats

Cindy Sheehan (pictured), he radical full-time Bush protestor, is turning on her supporters.

Last Friday she said Bush should "end this madness" and accused his Democratic foes of having "betrayed" their anti-war supporters.

Actually, the Democratic Party has never really supported her. What financial support she has received is from the MoveOn group who claims to “own” the Democratic Party.

Sheehan took a tough line against Democrats who harnessed anger at the Iraq war to recapture the US Congress in November.

"They got there and they betrayed the grass roots that put them back there," she said. "We can't depend on the Democrats."

HBO film about Bush-Gore 2000 election recount

HBO will make a film about the 2000 presidential election when the TV networks first declared that Al Gore had won and then called Florida for Bush before announcing that the race was too close to call.

This was followed by three weeks of legal maneuvering.

Will the movie show how the Gore team demanded re-counts and then re-counts of some of the re-counts? It was as if they wanted to keep counting until they got the results they wanted.

What about the military ballots that were rejected by the Gore team because they arrived a few days late? Military ballots traditionally are overwhelmingly Republican.

Will the film show people holding ballots up to the light while studying them with magnifying glasses in a effort to try to guess the intent of the voter?

Will the movie show the results of two subsequent recounts by two different newspapers, both of which showed Bush won?

Will the film report that the Florida Supreme Court refused to hear the case the first time. It was then sent to the U.S. Supreme Court where it was rejected and returned to the Florida Supreme Court. After the Florida high court again refused, the U.S. Supreme Court heard the case and ruled in favor of Bush.

Knowing that 95% of Hollywood is staunchly liberal there is little doubt how the film will be slanted. Expect as much innuendo as fact.

Pelosi questions lack of female Saudi politicians

The title of this posting proves once again that Nancy Pelosi (pictured) is not known for her intellect.

She is not only mucking up the careful state department strategy for the Middle East, she is trying to cram social correctness down their throats.

If she were qualified to be a state department ambassador she would know that women in Saudi aren’t even allowed to drive automobiles.

Wondering why women don’t hold political office in Saudi Arabia is like wondering why black men didn’t hold political office in the Confederacy during the American Civil War.

Mrs. Pelosi also defied tradition and wore a lavender pantsuit instead of the long black robe, called an abaya, that women, Saudi and non-Saudi, have to wear in the kingdom.

Mrs. Pelosi arrived in Saudi Arabia from Syria, where she defied the White House's Middle East policy by meeting with President Bashar Assad and saying "the road to Damascus is a road to peace." The Bush administration has rejected direct talks with Damascus and criticized Mrs. Pelosi for her visit.

Other than that, and misquoting Israel Prime Minister Olmert, things went rather well for a bumbling Secretary of State wannabe.

Scandal manufactured by Democrats and media

Federal judges serve at the pleasure of the President. He hires them and can fire them.

The firing of eight federal judges has been made into the “scandal that isn’t there” by Democrats in Washington and perpetuated by the media.

The contrived controversy over the firing of eight U.S. Attorneys is largely an exercise in imaginary indignation.

Congressional Democrats suggest that some of the firings may have been improper and demand to know the reasons for each of them. By what authority they make such demand is not clear, since the Supreme Court has ruled that, with limited exceptions, Congress has no voice in the dismissal of federal officers.

There was no such outcry when Bill Clinton ordered Janet Reno (pictured) to fire all 93 federal attorneys. In fact, the liberal media made it seem like it was the right thing to do.

Furthermore, there is nothing to stop Bush from firing any political appointee for whatever reason he chooses.

The Democrats are trying to make anything the administration does to appear as a scandal until the 2008 election.

They know that Hillary will probably be their candidate for president in 2008 and they are afraid she will be a weak candidate. They also know that the media will keep their “scandal” accusations alive for as long as they can.

The sad thing about this whole “scandal that wasn’t there” affair is the unwillingness of the President and Republicans in congress to put a stop to his nonsense! This proves the old saying: “people will do to you what you allow them to do.”

Only 36% of Democrats would vote for Hillary

Nearly half of the respondents in a recent poll said they dislike Hillary Clinton’s political opinions and Clinton as a person and that she does not appear to connect with people on a personal level.

More than one in five Democrats that participated in the survey said they would not vote for Clinton. Overall, 36 percent said they would vote for the former first lady.

This is not good news for Democrats because Hillary will probably be the standard bearer for the Party in 2008.

Washington lawmakers feasting on pork

Washington politicians have been accustomed to adding their favorite pork projects to bills they think the president will sign because of the importance of the main portion of the bill.

When such a bill reaches the president, he must sign it, in spite of the pork, or veto the entire bill. He does not have the ability to veto parts of a bill.

The president should be given ‘line item’ veto power but such a bill would never pass the House and Senate.

The House bill, which passed last week, exceeded the administration’s request by $21 billion and included money for spinach growers, peanut storage and citrus farmers.

If the Senate bill goes to conference committee as written, the two chambers may find themselves fighting over the best cuts of pork.

Washington lawmakers try to hide some of their pet projects as they are doing with the $100 million for the political party conventions. $50 million for the Democratic convention in Denver, Colorado and $50 million for the Republican convention in St. Paul, Minnesota.

The $100 million for the political conventions is included in a section described as “Katrina recovery, veterans’ care and for other purposes.”

Senate Appropriations Chairman Robert Byrd, D-W.Va., Monday defended the extra spending, describing it as “common sense and good economics.”

Senator Byrd (pictured), former Ku Klux Klan member, is the king of the pork-barrelers.

A good portion of $20 million is for insect infestation control in Nevada, thanks to Majority Leader Harry Reid.

Politicians love to take big chunks of federal money back to their home state to help insure their re-election.

With no term-limits and no line-item veto, Washington lawmakers feast on pork year after year.

Aide to Sen. Webb arrested for gun possession

An aide to Jim Webb, Democratic Senator from Virginia, was arrested Monday when he entered a Senate office building with a loaded pistol belonging to the senator.

Capitol Police spokeswoman Sgt. Kimberly Schneider said the aide was charged with carrying a pistol without a license and possessing an unregistered firearm and unregistered ammunition.

Sen. Webb’s office said it was an oversight. Carrying an unregistered firearm and unregistered ammunition was an oversight?

Newspapers hurting as advertising revenue drops

Big city newspapers continue to stumble financially.

Although advertising revenue increased on newspaper web sites, ad income dropped in the printed version keeps dropping.

Revenue from advertising was in striking decline last month, compared with February a year ago, and were generally weaker than analysts had expected.

What will big city dwellers use to wrap fish if newspapers go the way of the dodo bird? They’ll have to find something else to line the birdcage.

As politically irresponsible as big city newspapers are, I can’t say as I’ll mourn their passing -- if it comes to that.

Turnout low at immigrant rallies

Pro-immigration activists were disappointed last weekend by paltry rally participation.

Tens of thousands were expected in Washington but fewer than 5,000 showed up.

Some said it was because the movement's national organizers in Washington have lost touch with the people.

Not mentioned in the article is what could be the main reason for the lower than expected turnout -- a feeling of complacency on the part of the immigrants.

Many of the immigrants have everything they want now so why bother with demonstrating?

They earn a lot more than they did where they came from and they get free medical care for their families. If they are ill or injured, they are treated at most clinics and hospitals. Most have no insurance so U.S. taxpayers end up paying.

Give Gore a dunce cap instead of honorary degree

The University of Minnesota is considering giving AL Gore (pictured) an honorary doctorate in climatology for his 2006 movie, "An Inconvenient Truth."

Considering the multitude of misleading and inaccurate assertions Gore delivered in the film, Gore is better fitted for a dunce cap.

Inaccuracy is the norm rather than the exception in Gore's movie. He would receive no better than an "F" in any serious course on climatology. The question is, given the current crisis in our public schools, does giving a bad scientist an honorary degree really send the right message?

Democrats 0 for 6 in Congress

The Democrats have been sidetracked by the war in Iraq and by their own “get Bush” agenda.

None of the elements of the newly minted Democrats' congressional agenda have made it to President Bush's desk, and the prospects of signature bills such as federal funding for stem-cell research or homeland-security improvements becoming law any time soon are doubtful.

Much of the Democratic agenda -- dubbed "Six for '06" -- sailed out of the House with bipartisan support, but all of it has stalled in the Senate as leaders scramble to deal with the Iraq war.

"I don't think they've gotten anything done," House Minority Leader John A. Boehner of Ohio said of the Democrats. "How many bills have they sent to the president? None? Somewhere around there."

House Democrats in disarray: pull DC voting bill

With Speaker Nancy Pelosi absent, and House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (pictured) trying in vain to do a “balancing act” the Democrats appeared to be in disarray Thursday as the Democrat sponsored bill to grant Washington, DC, a vote in the House was stalled by Republicans.

House Democrats pulled a bill to grant voting rights to Washington, D.C., after Republicans offered a motion that would repeal the gun ban for the District.

The move is a clear signal that Democrats have lost control of the House floor on the voting rights issue after minority Republicans presented the Democratic majority with a politically unpalatable motion that their conservative members would be forced to support for fear of angering the gun rights community.

Al's warming lies - the REAL 'Inconvenient Truth'

Politicians like to have a scare issue to make us tremble making it easier to raise money -- very little of which goes to fight the cause of the scare.

Today it's Global Warming. Yesterday it was bird flu. Before that it was SARS which was preceded by Acid Rain. Before that it was the Coming Ice Age and so on.

It’s just that the man-made warming scare is one they see as the real winner for them. It will bring in the dollars and political clout they need.

British Airways set corpse in first class seat

A British Airways passenger travelling first class has described how he woke up on a long-haul flight to find that cabin crew had placed a corpse in his row.

The body of a woman in her seventies, who died after the plane left Delhi for Heathrow, was carried by cabin staff from economy to first class, where there was more space. Her body was propped up in a seat, using pillows

Paul Trinder, who awoke to see the body at the end of his row, last week described the journey as “deeply disturbing”.

What did Mr. Trinder expect? The poor lady would not have fit in the overhead compartments.

What other airlines have done differently? Maybe not.

Defiant Bush warned Democrats: no show trials

Were the Democrats bluffing when they wanted open hearings on the judge firings? If so, their bluff was called.

A defiant President Bush warned Democrats Tuesday to accept his offer to have top aides speak about the firings of federal prosecutors only privately and not under oath, or risk a constitutional showdown from which he would not back down.

In return the Democrats said they would start authorizing subpoenas as soon as Wednesday for the White House aides.

In a late-afternoon statement at the White House, Bush said he would fight any subpoena effort in court.

Bush finally decided to stand up to the Senate Democrats. He is not willing to let them grandstand and publicly bash the Bush Administration, which is the only reason this was started in the first place.

This whole judge firing is just a partisan ploy as reported here. The Senate Democrats know the media will make this sound like another Watergate, yet when Bill Clinton had Janet Reno fire all 93 federal prosecutors there was hardly a ripple because the media reported it as if it was the proper thing to do.

Bush is a ‘lame duck’ president but that's no reason he should allow Schumer et al to make him into a ‘dead duck’ which is their real intent.

Has the New York Times turned over a new leaf?

The New York Times usually bends over backward to coddle and protect liberal politicians. Uncharacteristically, the Times recently bashed Al Gore’s global warming movie (link here).

Now the Times seems overly critical of Hillary Rodham Clinton prompting a scathing retaliation from Bill.

The long love affair between Bill and Hillary Clinton (pictured) and The New York Times seems to be over.

At a fund-raiser at the Trump World Tower apartment of mortgage mogul Keith Kantrowitz, the former president spoke for two hours to a select group that had contributed the maximum $2,300 to Hillary's presidential campaign, and much of his talk was devoted to attacking the Times.

He said his wife wasn't getting a fair shake from the Times.

Clinton said the Times is attacking Hillary because she won't apologize for her vote on the war in Iraq.

The Times had always been super supportive in the past.

The shoe is on the other foot now. Usually it’s conservative politicians who feel the wrath of the New York Times.

Seeking maximum political gain in attorneys uproar

Former Attorney General Janet Reno fired all 93 U.S. attorney’s at the start of the Bill Clinton administration. The media was so overjoyed that a Democrat was finally in the White House they refused to report anything negative about the unprecedented firings.

Now, it’s different as members of the media are eagerly backing up Congressional Democrats who are planning a new, two-track strategy for maximizing the political windfall -- and the disclosure of potentially embarrassing information -- from the Bush administration's firings of eight federal prosecutors, according to top party officials.

What the media is not reporting is that the firing of 8 U.S. attorney’s by the Justice Department was because the U.S. Prosecutors had refused to investigate and prosecute Democrat vote fraud.

Tennessee mine enriched Gore, scarred land

A newspaper that once backed Al Gore is now critical of the Gore hypocrisy.

Al Gore Jr. received more than $500,000 in royalties from the owners of zinc mines who held mineral leases on his farm near Carthage, Tenn. Now the mines have a new owner and are scheduled to reopen later this year.

Before the mines closed in 2003, they emitted thousands of pounds of toxic substances and several times, the water discharged from the mines into nearby rivers had levels of toxins above what was legal.

Maybe Al Gore should have issued himself enough carbon credits to cover up this story.

Struggling for support of their Iraq policy

A mini-drama in a congressional hallway last week (reported on here) shed some light on the difficulties that Democrats are having in keeping their promise to change the course on Iraq.

They say they have a strategy to reach that goal, but it will take time to line up enough support to pressure President Bush.

They not only don’t have a strategy, they don’t have the votes to stop war funding.

Another scientist says GW is a myth

A Danish scientist says global warming is more political than scientific.

University of Copenhagen Professor Bjarne Andresen has analyzed the topic in collaboration with Canadian Professors Christopher Essex from the University of Western Ontario and Ross McKitrick of the University of Guelph.

"It is impossible to talk about a single temperature for something as complicated as the climate of Earth," said Andresen, an expert on thermodynamics. "A temperature can be defined only for a homogeneous system. Furthermore, the climate is not governed by a single temperature. Rather, differences of temperatures drive the processes and create the storms, sea currents, thunder, etc. which make up the climate".

He says the currently used method of determining the global temperature -- and any conclusion drawn from it -- is more political than scientific.

Al Gore thought he was ‘home free’ with his quasi-documentary scare film. If scientists around the world keep stepping forward challenging the man-made global warming myth, will Gore back down and revise his movie or quietly stop promoting it and let it die?

Troops will stay in Iraq if Hillary is elected

Hillary (pictured) says she will leave troops in Iraq if she is elected.

This is the same person who wanted the troops pulled out of Iraq.

In outlining how she would handle Iraq as commander in chief, Mrs. Clinton articulated a more-nuanced position than the one she has provided at her campaign events, where she has backed the goal of “bringing the troops home.”

Well, I guess if Kerry can flip-flop, why can’t she?

The great global warming swindle

Each week there is more global warming skepticism appearing in various news articles on the Internet.

We don’t see this reported widely here in the United States where the media is still bowing down to the idol of Al Gore and his scare movie.

There is a British documentary called: The Great Global Warming Swindle. An abbreviated ten-minute version can be found here.

And how about the global warming proponents who were trekking the Arctic to prove global warming? They had to call off their trip because one of them got frostbite on their feet because the temperatures were 58-100 below zero.

Their explanation was that the extreme temperatures were typical of global warming. Did they think it never got cold at the north pole before global warming?

Their stunt was useless anyway because it could not have shown that, if they did find evidence of warming, it was man-made.

It seems the poor misdirected souls got frostbite for nothing.

Americans see media aiding moral decline

A recent National Cultural Values Survey found:

If the media continue to "singularly promote" secular values while undermining orthodox faith and values, it will be very difficult to reverse America's moral decline.

"Americans who care about the nation's moral condition should insist that the media strive to more fairly represent all views, including those of the orthodox," the report stated.

The survey of 2,000 American adults shows that the nation's culture war is grounded in disagreements over religious issues, such as God's role in life and whether religious belief is essential for a good and moral life.

White House mulled firing all US attorneys in 1994

At the start of President Bush’s second term, the chief White House lawyer suggested the dismissal of all 93 U.S. attorneys.

The Justice Department objected and eventually recommended the eight dismissals that have generated a political firestorm two years later.

Is there a precedent for such a bold move? Yes, Bill Clinton did it for the first time ever in 1993.

The New York Times reported the event on March 24, 1993:

Attorney General Janet Reno [pictured] today demanded the prompt resignation of all United States Attorneys.

The Bush dismissals are causing a firestorm now, yet when Clinton fired all U.S. Attorneys it hardly caused much more than a ripple largely because the liberal media reported the incident but glossed over the multitude of objections.

Now the liberals want Bush’s Attorney General to resign but there was no hint that Clinton’s Attroney General should have resigned in 1993.

Desperate to grasp at any edge she can, Hillary Clinton (pictured) infers she will be the JFK of 2008.

She compares her desire to be the first woman president to John F. Kennedy who was the first Catholic president.

The comparison is as invalid as any other comparison between her and JFK, other than that they are/were both Democrats.

House bill would block credit cards for illegals

Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) seeks to close the loophole in U.S. banking that allows banks to issue credit cards to illegals who have no social security numbers.

Bank of America caused a stir when they announced the availability of credit cards to illegals. The cards did not require social security numbers.

Jacques Chirac to step down as leader of France

Jacques Chirac (pictured) announced he would not seek reelection next month after 45 years in front-line politics.

Chirac, 74, has served as head of state since 1995 and leaves behind a checkered record that consists as much of symbolic gestures as concrete policies.

Socialists will hope he is succeeded by another permissive president who will allow further political drifting to the left.

What the country needs is a forceful leader who will nurture capitalism before France has a complete financial collapse.

A more pressing problem facing the new president is out of control immigration from the Mid-East.

Chirac leaves a difficult legacy for his successor, with the economy underachieving, the state heavily indebted, unemployment stubbornly high, and social tensions still simmering after 2005 rioting in poorer suburbs.

The decline of France under the leadership of Jacques Chirac is nearly immeasurable.

Nevada Democrats will not debate

Democrats refuse to participate in the Fox News debate in Nevada.

Moveon.org, a radical group that has said they ‘own’ the Democratic party, is in complete control of the Nevada Democratic Caucus.

News organizations will want to think twice before getting involved in the Nevada Democratic Caucus which appears to be controlled by radical fringe out-of-state interest groups, not the Nevada Democratic Party.

Bill Edwards has said any Democrat would not get a fair shake with Fox News.

Edwards, along with most of the other Democrats, are afraid of any connection with a news organization that is not pro-liberal. If a news organization is not liberal, Edwards and most of his fellow Democrats, accuse the news source of being prejudiced against them.

Edwards and other Democratic politicians are accustomed to the friendly confines of pro-liberal news organizations such as CNN and MSNBC and, to a lesser degree, CBS and NBC.

ABC Evening News with Charles Gibson has the least liberal bias of the commercial networks. Is that why Gibson has surpassed, and continues to pull ahead of, Katie Couric and Brian Williams?

Democrats have been accustomed to being coddled by the media so much over the years they bristle at the thought of a moderate news organization asking them hard questions.

It is interesting that the moderate Fox News has more viewers than all of the other cable news networks combined as shown here.

Lying about the Libby case

A Scripps News article here says:

Lewis "Scooter" Libby stands convicted of telling lies to the FBI and a grand jury, whereas happy-faced, opportunistic Democratic leaders and the man who started this whole, awful charade, Joseph Wilson, are merely telling lies to the public.

Unlike the former adviser to Vice President Dick Cheney, of course, they won't be found guilty of a felony or face the possibility of years in prison, but they should pay a penalty for their misstatements, something on the order of a total loss of credibility and widespread disgust.

It won't happen, I am afraid, because it's been a complicated, slowly evolving case that the left has assiduously misconstrued. When Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid says it's "about time someone in the Bush administration has been held accountable for the campaign to manipulate intelligence and discredit war critics," echoing statements by other Democrats, many citizens will likely think he's merely saying the obvious.

In fact, the statement illustrates that Reid either doesn't have an honest bone in his body or is so utterly incompetent that he failed to grasp two things: what went on in court and a 2004 bipartisan report by the Senate intelligence committee. It showed conclusively that it wasn't the Bush administration doing the manipulating in this case. It was Wilson.

You won’t find this story in the New York Times and you won’t find it on CNN.

The liberal media doesn’t want us to learn that this case was as full of holes as Swiss cheese.

Congressman berates war mother in corridor

During a videotaped altercation with a war mother in a corridor, Congressman David Obey, a Democrat from Wisconsin, lambasted “idiot liberals” as part of his ranting.

But isn’t calling his Democrat colleagues “idiot liberals” akin to the pot calling the kettle sooty?

The altercation was filmed and posted on YouTube and can be found here. A little over half way through the conversation, the Congressman becomes irate and even yells at a man in the hallway.

Obama buys shares in firms backed by political donors

Barack Obama, who is seeking the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination, has been forced to defend some curious stock purchases in companies that were backed by some of his top political donors.

Barack Hussein Obama said he was unaware of any conflict.

In reality, besides buying share in firms backed by political donors, he made a $5,000 investment in a biotech company that was developing a drug to combat avian flu, a cause Obama quickly took up in Congress just after investing in the stock. Is that the kind of person we want in the White House?

The Clinton’s could push a story like this aside and the press would act like it never happened. Obama does not have that much power. Not yet anyway.

Presidential candidate finally pays 17-year-old parking tickets

The 17-year-old parking tickets were not important until he decided to run for President of the United States.

As he prepared to announce his campaign for the White House, Democratic Sen. Barack Obama [pictured] took care of some unfinished business at Harvard University -- paying about $400 in parking fines dating back to his days as a law student

Obama paid Cambridge $375 on January 26 for 17 parking tickets received between 1988 and 1990, she said. He paid neighboring Somerville another $45 for late fees on two parking tickets from the early 1990s, a Somerville official added.

Obama also paid a $73 auto excise tax he owed Somerville, said city spokesman Tom Champion.

Another company raided: accused of hiring illegals

Raids on companies hiring illegals continue. This time a New Bedford Massachusetts leather manufacturer was targeted by 300 federal immigration agents. Up to 350 are in custody including the company's owner and three managers.

Feds say the company hired illegals to keep up with government contracts. The company supplied backpacks and other products to the military.

Between 2004 and 2006, it won $82 million in military contracts.

Momentum shifting toward global warming skepticism

Senator James Inhofe said:

Politicians who build campaigns around "alarmist" global warming claims are themselves becoming quite alarmed because of growing skepticism.

Momentum is shifting away from scientific theories bolstering "anthropocentric" (human-centered) models of global warming and toward skeptics who do not see a link between human activity and rising temperatures, Inhofe told the annual Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC).

Problem is, most of those politicians who got themselves elected on a promise to “do something about global warming” are then compelled to continue the alarmism whether they buy into the science or not

The last three managing editors of Time were good friends, all members of an elite club. Now the newest one has been charged with blowing up the clubhouse.

Maybe Richard Stengel, Time’s new managing editor, arrived just in time to save Time from itself, a magazine whose time may have passed (pardon the puns).

The left-winger’s in Washington are celebrating a victory today. They "got" someone from the administration.

It is a shallow, dubious victory based on a non-crime, and prosecuted in a mean-spirited manner with an evil intent.

But that’s how the liberal left in Washington operates.

What happens now? Will the pardon come next or will the case go to the Supreme Court first? The Supreme Court will tear this non-case to shreds before it gets tossed out.

The jury, who had to be told the meaning of “reasonable doubt,” will be celebrating because now they can make lucrative book deals describing how they nailed Libby.

The tables have been turned on Michael Moore (pictured), the maker of the film Fahrenheit 9/11.

The hunter has become the hunted. Michael Moore, the celebrated left-wing film-maker, has become the unwilling subject of a new documentary that raises damaging questions about the credibility of his work.

Moore’s films, which he calls documentaries, include Roger & Me, Bowling for Columbine and Fahrenheit 9/11.

Yet the latest assault on Moore’s film-making techniques has come from an unexpected quarter.

In Manufacturing Dissent, a documentary to be shown for the first time at a Texas film festival on Saturday, a pair of left-wing Canadian film-makers take Moore to task for what they describe as a disturbing pattern of fact fudging and misrepresentation.

Most of his critics say all of his films contain fact fudging and misrepresentation.

Claude Allegre, one of France's leading socialists and among her most celebrated scientists, was among the first to sound the alarm about the dangers of global warming.

Now he is becoming a skeptic.What makes this change of heart interesting is that Allegre is one of France's leading socialists.

Global warming has become a political issue in the U.S. championed by the far left wing of the Democratic Party. Left wing politics in the U.S. can be closely tied to European socialist views.

Look for other noted scientists to also distance themselves from the current global warming hysteria.

The writer, a Washington DC lawyer, gives thoughts on the long jury deliberations in the Libby trial.

One thing, not mentioned in the article, is one more reason for the lengthy deliberations by the 11-person jury. One person was dismissed by the judge.

I think that the more thoughtfulness and study they put into their work, as they deliberate according to the 127 page jury instructions given to them by the judge, the better chance some of them will have to write a marketable book about the trial.

Otherwise, the longer they take, the more obvious it becomes that they are finding a lot of reasonable doubt.

However, if book deals are uppermost in their minds, they could very well be swayed by the popular assumption, championed by the liberal media, even before the trial began, that Libby is guilty.

But a local free-market think tank is trying to make that very home emblematic of what it deems Gore's environmental hypocrisy

Armed with Gore's utility bills for the last two years, the Tennessee Center for Policy Research charged Monday that the gas and electric bills for the former vice president's 20-room home and pool house devoured nearly 221,000 kilowatt-hours in 2006, more than 20 times the national average of 10,656 kilowatt-hours.

The group makes the point that Gore is not following his own rules.

Gore uses more than twice the electricity in one month than an average American family uses in an entire year.

The John Kerry (pictured) election campaign was Swift Boated into ineffectiveness during more than two critical months of the 2004 presidential race.

Kerry must have decided it was his turn as he tried to Swift Boat a Bush political nominee.

A Senate hearing that began with glowing tributes to a St. Louis businessman and his qualifications to become ambassador to Belgium turned bitterly divisive Tuesday after he was criticized for supporting a controversial conservative group.

There would have been no problem if Sam Fox, the nominee, had contributed to the MoveOn political group that tried to get Kerry elected.

Kerry just can’t get over 2004. The Swift Boat group helped elect George W. Bush and Kerry took it out on Fox.

What Fox did was to give money to a group of veterans who had first-hand knowledge of Kerry's unfitness to be become President of the United States.

Maybe it’s time for Kennedy or Schumer to explain to Kerry that the 2004 election is over before he further embarrasses the Democrats.

Senator Murtha embarrasses House Democrats

The Incompetence of Senator Murtha (pictured) shows - again. His Iraq plan was a strategy to slowly bleed the war of troops and funds. Now it is up in smoke as he receives criticism from Republicans as well as Democrats.

The plan was bold: By tying President Bush's $100 billion war request to strict standards of troop safety and readiness, Democrats believed they could grab hold of Iraq war policy while forcing Republicans to defend sending troops into battle without the necessary training or equipment.

But a botched launch by the plan's author, Rep. John P Murtha, has united Republicans and divided Democrats, sending the latter back to the drawing board just a week before scheduled legislative action, a score of House Democratic lawmakers said last week.

Murtha's credentials as a Marine combat veteran, a critic of the war and close ally of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, were supposed to make him an unassailable spokesman for Democratic war policy. Instead, he has become a lightning rod for criticism from Republicans and members of his own party.

Murtha’s attempt to knock the knees our from under our troops and handcuff the president has backfired.

Instead, as the article says, he has united the Republicans and divided the Democrats.

Governor rebukes State climate skeptic

Ruth Ann Minner, the Governor of Delaware, has ordered the Delaware State Climatologist to stop using his title in public statements on climate change, citing a clash of views on global warming and confusion over the position's ties to the administration.

The Governor, a Democrat, does not like dissenting views.

Minner, who made the directive in a letter, described the move as a way to "clarify" the role of David R. Legates, a prominent skeptic of views that human activities are warming the planet and triggering climate shifts.

She was basking in the applause from a predominantly black audience gathered for her town-hall-style chat in the Liberty City section of Miami.

It is interesting that the most arrogant figure in political life arrogantly vows to end US arrogance in yet another arrogant outburst.

Hillary must confuse arrogance with ability -- the ability to protect the country in which we live.

Every Clinton I know is arrogance personified. Maybe Chelsea has humility. Is running?

Helen Thomas kicked out of front row seat

The article, at the link below, glorifying the lecherous Helen Thomas (pictured) was nauseating.

It almost sounded like a eulogy. Maybe it was intended to be. Maybe it should have been.

Her chair in the White House briefing room was always intellectually vacant whether she occupied it or not.

Her crude disrespectful verbiage will continue from a little further back in the room from now on. Wonder if she will need help carrying her big brown bag of papers to her new location?

Helen Thomas has always acted as if was her lot in life to provide hateful anti-conservative “news” articles to the masses.

Woman gets 2 years in jail for McMissle incident

A Virginia woman was found guilty by a jury and sentenced to two years in jail for throwing a McDonald’s cup of ice water into the open window of another car on Interstate 95.

Jessica Hall, 25, of Jacksonville, N.C., was charged and convicted by a Stafford County jury of maliciously throwing a missile into an occupied vehicle, a felony in Virginia.

The driver of the plaintiff’s car said he was “maneuvering through the stalled traffic.” The accused said he “cut her off” more than once.

The accused then drove on the shoulder of the road and “chucked a big, supersized McDonald's cup at us through the window.”

Inside the victims car there was a sticky, icy mess on the occupants and the inside of the car.

The accused will pay with a felony on her record and two years in jail.

She has been in jail since Jan. 4. Presumably, she has now been released. She must remain on good behavior for five years and also must pay fines and court costs.

Activists say let non-citizens vote

Immigrant-rights activists are renewing their push to allow legal non-citizens to vote in New York City.

A bill that would grant permanent residents and other legal immigrants the right to vote in municipal elections has been stalled in the City Council since last year.

"More than 50,000 adult non-citizen taxpayers in those two districts are disenfranchised by citizenship voting laws," said Cheryl Wertz, of New Immigrant Community Empowerment, referring to today's special election for council seats in Brooklyn and Staten Island.

How can a non-citizen, who has never been given the right to vote, be disenfranchised?

How many countries in the free world would you be allowed to vote if you were not a citizen.

Allowing legal non-citizens to vote would be the first step to allowing illegal non-citizens to vote which is close to happening now in Southern California.

Gore rules out running for president in 2008

Al Gore, former vice-president and failed 2000 presidential candidate, announced that he will nor run for president in 2008 -- though he did not entirely rule out doing so further in the future.

He said: "I don't have plans to be a candidate again and though I haven't... completely ruled out any possibility of running at some point in the future I don't expect to and cannot perceive circumstances in which I would."

GOP blocks Democrat sponsored Iraq debate

The strong leadership of Republican Senate leader Mitch McConnell showed again as a “non-binding resolution” vote was blocked.

It was a brazen attempt by Senate Democrats to rebuke President Bush over his deployment of 21,500 additional combat troops.

“A vote in support of the troops that is silent on the question of funds is an attempt to have it both ways," said Sen. Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, the GOP leader. "So we are asking for an honest and open debate."

Senator McConnell is a strong Republican Senator, unlike Bill Frist who often backed down from the Democrats when the Republicans had a majority in the Senate.

An article in the Examiner gushes with praise for Bill Clinton saying he should be appointed to fill the vacated Senate seat if Hillary is elected president in 2008.

Among other things the writer says Bill Clinton “would excel in the Senate.”

He is also pretty darn good with cute female political interns. Hillary would need to insist he stay out of the Oval Office at all times.

Global warning: what scientific consensus?

Scientific consensus on global warming? Not so fast. Just because global warming has gone political and promoted by political liberals in this country, doesn’t really mean there is a true consensus. A consensus of the liberal scientists who are “following the leader” really isn’t that meaningful.

"Scientific consensus!" chants the mainstream media in America when it comes to global warming. Not so long ago, that would have been the end of the story for nearly everyone.

One of the pleasures of the Internet is coming across first-class publications - newspapers, magazines, and the like - that might never have been available to ordinary people in the pre-wired world. Newspapers like The Scotsman and the Sydney Morning Herald, far superior to their equivalents here in the U.S., open windows to other points of view and often contain information impossible to find in the domestic media.

GIs’ lives ‘wasted’ was slip of tongue says Obama

Barack Obama (pictured) told a crowd in Iowa that the nation’s Iraq war dead were lives “wasted” then claimed it was a “slip of the tongue.”

In talking to the Des Moines Register newspaper later, he did some Kerry backpedaling by explaining … “what I meant to say was”…

Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry’s decision to not enter the 2008 race was blamed in part on a bipartisan backlash from his remark that people who did poorly in school would end up “stuck in Iraq.” He later claimed his remark was misinterpreted and said he was sorry if anyone was offended.

What sunk the Kerry bid to run again for the presidency may not derail Barack Hussein Obama. Why? Obama is still the darling of the media and can do no wrong right now.

Kerry, on the other hand, broke their hearts in 2004 when he blew leads in the polls and managed to pull defeat from the jaws of victory in the last presidential election. The liberal media seemed to be looking for just such a gaff to keep on the front page long enough to bury Kerry’s plans to run again.

In the meanwhile, the misspeaking Obama can do no wrong even though critics say the speech was scripted and the
comment was intentional.

Al Franken to run for U.S. Senate

A couple of years ago Al Franken (upper picture) re-established a residence in Minnesota with the idea of some day running for the U.S. Senate.

That ‘some day’ is today.

A little background on the Senate seat Franken will attempt to win:

This is the seat held by the late Senator Paul Wellstone, a staunchly liberal Democrat. The seat is now held by Senator Norm Coleman a moderate Republican.

Norm Coleman’s successful election in a liberal district may have been aided by the disgraceful manner in which liberal politicians and political activists behaved at Paul Wellstone’s funeral (Wellstone was killed in an airplane accident in 2002). They turned the Wellstone memorial into a boisterous political rally.

However, it may take more than Al Franken to win back the seat for the Democrats even in a liberal district.

Al Franken, talk show host on the failing liberal Air America radio network, has a lot of negative baggage to carry into his Senate campaign.

First of all, how can he expect voters to see the author of a book called, “Lies, and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them.” as a serious politician? The lower picture shows Al Franken dressed as a baby wearing a diaper. Would you vote for this man to represent you in the U.S. Senate?

Franken has a personality trait that he may not be able to hide during a spirited political debate -- his red-hot temper. He is liable to go off into a tirade during a political debate.

Franken may win in spite of his negative attributes, however. After all, Minnesota is the state that put former pro wrestler Jesse Ventura in the Governor’s mansion in 1999.

Global warming advocates say silence the opposition

An article (at the link below) by Canadian broadcaster and Entomologist David Suzuki (pictured) says. “ignore scientists that ignore global warming."

A media darling--especially to the publicly funded Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC)--who pays his salary Suzuki's advice to journalists is specific: They should ignore scientists that cast doubt on global warming, since they don't represent a consensus within the scientific community.

Suzuki's own solutions to save the environment are heavily focused on the Kyoto Protocol and include firm targets and timelines to reduce greenhouse gases and other emissions.

The David Suzuki Traveling Show has a real problem: The Stephen Harper-led Conservative Government in Ottawa still rejects the emission-cutting targets of the Kyoto Protocol and have said they will vote against an opposition motion in Parliament to implement the treaty.

In a five-year-old letter that somehow resurfaced last week, Prime Minister Harper called Kyoto a "money-sucking socialist scheme"

Suzuki’s advice is to silence the opposition -- it worked for the Nazis.

Obama kicks off campaign with ‘uniting’ speech

Barack Obama’s presidential campaign kickoff speech was held in Springfield, Illinois. He chose the town where Abraham Lincoln lived when he became president in 1861.

Further trying to ride on the coattails of Abraham Lincoln, Obama (pictured) portrayed himself as a black man “evoking Abraham Lincoln's ability to unite a nation.”

Obama also said he wants to ‘transform’ America, whatever that means -- the article, at the link below, does not say.

The junior Senator from Illinois failed to mention in his speech that he was given the name Barack Hussein Obama by his Islamic father who left the family and moved back to Kenya when Obama was a very small child.

He also did not mention that his new stepfather, an Indonesian student, put him in a Madrassa in Jakarta where he was raised as a Muslim until he was 10 years old.

Rep. Waxman: resident pit bull and muckraker

Republicans have been wondering how long it would take Henry Waxman (pictured), Democrat chairman of the oversight committee, to begin mucking about trying to dig up dirt on the Bush administration.

When Waxman finally got around to doing something, it was of little substance.

Waxman's oversight committee spent the week delving into government waste that ranged from spending in Iraq to federal drug program pricing -- inquests Republicans say mainly provided entertainment but no legislative action.

Some of the hearings of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform were strictly "a show," said Rep. Darrell Issa, a California Republican on the panel.

It would be more productive if Waxman would investigate some of the Democrat culture of corruption in the House of Representatives.

A good place to start would be Rep. William Jefferson from Louisiana. He is the congressman who tried to hide $85,000 bribe money in his home freezer. The bills had been marked by the FBI. So far the Democrats have been able to keep Jefferson’s bribery problems under the carpet. More on that story here.

Waxman should also check out Alcee Hastings the Democrat who was a judge in Florida until he was impeached in 1988 by the House and was removed from the bench by the Senate. Schwarzenegger playing both sides of the fence

California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger (pictured) has a unique gift. He was able to draw over 90% of Republican votes during his re-election as Governor in spite of the fact that he acts more like a liberal Democrat.

There is an article here titled: “Governor seeks unity in speech to state GOP.”

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger described himself as a "proud Republican" in a speech Friday night at the state's Republican convention, where party conservatives are fuming over the governor's not-so-conservative agenda.

Receiving polite applause, Schwarzenegger said he would continue his theme of "postpartisan" cooperation by searching for the middle ground on the state's key issues but insisted he would never discard his Republican values.

What did the Governor mean by postpartisan? It almost sounds like a medical term.

What postpartisan means in this case is that Schwarzenegger is a fence walker, trying his best to seem conservative enough to please California Republicans while being liberal enough to make the Democrats happy they voted for him.

With his unique ability to ride the political fence, along with his natural charisma and ability to influence the media, he could just swing the California presidential vote to a Republican in 2008 especially if the candidate is Rudy Giuliani.

Edwards criticized for his new palatial mansion

John Edwards (pictured) made millions as a former medical malpractice trial lawyer before becoming a U.S. Senator from North Carolina.

Democrat presidential candidate Edwards has made an anti-poverty message the theme of his 2008 campaign.

In December, Edwards chose the modest backyard of a New Orleans woman who had lost her home to Hurricane Katrina as the image that best underscored his campaign theme.

Edwards frequently mentions "two Americas" — one for the wealthy and one for the poor.

The new Edwards $4.3 million has critics pointing out which America Edwards lives in.

A lot of rich people live in four million dollar homes but they aren’t running for president on an anti-poverty platform.

Bad research and reporting by global warming advocates

This shows once again that global warming advocates are politically driven.

In trying to prove that the Bush administration is throttling research into global warming, the Union of Concerned Scientists rolled out some breathtakingly bad science

The group unveiled a supposedly scientific survey of more than 1,600 federal climate scientists as evidence that the administration was engaged in "wide-ranging political interference in research related to global warming."

"The new evidence shows that political interference in climate science is no longer a series of isolated incidents but a system-wide epidemic," Dr. Francesca Grifo, Director of the UCS Scientific Integrity Program, said in a press release. "Tailoring scientific fact for political purposes has become a problem across many federal science agencies."

You don't have to be a social scientist to understand that the survey was deceptive, for example, when it lumped into the same category scientists who said they actually experienced the alleged tampering and scientists who simply "perceived" that it happened to someone else.

Russert’s credibility takes a hit during Libby trial

It was hinted earlier that Tim Russert (pictured) was eager to testify at the Scooter Libby trial. Along with his colleagues David Gregory and Andrea Mitchell, Russert was hoping to help the prosecutions case.

Tim Russert’s appearance on the witness stand during the trial, however, was no help to special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald.

Fitzgerald is trying to prove that Scooter Libby lied to a grand jury.

An article in the San Francisco Chronicle headlines: “GOP makes much ado about the size of Pelosi's plane.”

It is actually Nancy Pelosi who is making “much ado” about the size of the plane provided to her.

The speaker of the House has been provided a jet from the government fleet to use for official business since the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks because of security concerns.

Former Republican Speaker Dennis Hastert used a military 12-seat jet to carry him mainly from Washington's Andrews Air Force Base to airports near his home district in Chicago's suburbs.

Democratic Speaker Nancy Pelosi wants a larger jet than was provided her predecessor. The 12-seat jet is not good enough for her.

There is an article on MSNBC saying that Rudy Giuliani is the GOP’s Barack Obama alluding to the fact that the media has become completely enamored by the charismatic Obama.

A big difference between Obama and Giuliani is substance and experience compared to what seems to be just a flash in the pan.

The biggest difference, however, is that Rudy Giuliani is electable.

Howard Fineman of Time Magazine is trying to compare apples to walnuts in order to give the emptiness of an Obama candidacy some measure of credibility. A near impossible task.

Trying to put Obama up on the same level as Giuliani is absurd.

We are wasting time, energy and trillions of dollars while creating unnecessary fear and consternation over an issue with no scientific justification.

Edwards diminishing his White House chances

Presidential candidate John Edwards (pictured) wants the government to give free health care to 47 million and raise taxes to make it work.

Promising to raise taxes is not the road to the White House.

John Edwards got rich in North Carolina as a medical malpractice lawyer, which helps raise the cost of medical care which also raises the cost of medical insurance.

Now he wants to give free health care to illegals and others who do not buy medical insurance. There are hundreds of thousands who could afford health insurance but choose to spend the money on other things.

Giving free federal funded health care is a step toward socialized medicine. That’s how socialized medicine got its start in Canada in the 1950’s.

Poor judgement may have been why Edwards was no help to the Kerry/Edwards ticket in 2004 which didn’t even carry Edwards home state of North Carolina.

Miami plans party after Castro's death

Miami wants to use the Orange Bowl in Little Havana to throw a party after the death of Fidel Castro (pictured).

It might include commemorative T-shirts, a catchy slogan and bands that will make your hips shake.

The stadium is a bittersweet landmark for Cuban-Americans. After the 1961 Bay of Pigs fiasco, more than 35,000 exiles gathered there to hear President John F. Kennedy promise a free Cuba. Decades later, the stadium served as a camp for Mariel boatlift refugees.

City Commissioner Tomas Regalado, a Cuban-American, came up with the idea of using the venue for an event timed to Castro's demise.

"He represents everything bad that has happened to the people of Cuba for 48 years," Regalado said. "There is something to celebrate, regardless of what happens next. ... We get rid of the guy."

It is easy to understand the strong feelings of Cubans who have been adversely affected by Castro since 1959.

Controversial nude X-ray camera scheme in Britain

Nude X-ray cameras started at London’s Heathrow airport and they were tried here in the United States on a test basis at Sky Harbor International Airport in Phoenix as we reported here.

There was an article in the Sun last week about nude X-ray cameras on lamp posts in London. The Sun is Britain’s equivalent to supermarket gossip tabloids in the U.S. such as National Enquirer.

Al Gore and Rush Limbaugh nominated for Nobel Peace prize

Rush Limbaugh (upper picture) and Al Gore (lower picture) have been nominated for the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize.

Limbaugh is best known for his daily radio show which is heard by more than 20 million people on more than 600 radio stations in the United States and around the world.

Al Gore is best known for his 8 years as an inactive vice president of the United States. Also for his controversial film, “An Inconvenient truth.”

Should either of them win 2007 Nobel Laureate for Peace they would receive the Nobel Peace Prize medal and a cash award of $10 million Norwegian Kroner (approximately $1.6 million).

There will be other nominees for the prize. It’s just that Limbaugh and Gore will probably be the two most unlikely candidates.

Hillary said she would not have started Iraq war

Here is what Hillary Rodham Clinton (pictured) said in 2002:

"In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program.

He [Saddam Hussein] has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including al Qaeda members ...

It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons."

Now we hear a different story.

Speaking to a huge audience of Democratic elders and activists, Mrs. Clinton was left in no doubt that her vote authorizing the war poses a serious threat to her candidacy, by the heckling she received and the rapturous reception given to Barack Obama, her main rival.

Hillary has a foggy memory or at least she hopes voters have a foggy memory about her vote to go to war.

She is now saying if she would have been president she would not have declared war on Iraq.

What she forgets is that congress declares war, not the president. However, by her vote of affirmation on the resolution authorizing the use of force, she, along with other members of congress really did “declare war.”

Barack Obama and others will keep reminding voters of the Hillary flip-flop on this issue all during the primary elections.
