They must be looking for new ways to spend the money they collect from member countries.
We should all feel safe now that the UN is looking to contact visiting space aliens.
However, if the space aliens won't listen to the UN any better than the rest of the world this will be a wasted effort.
The United Nations is set to appoint an obscure Malaysian astrophysicist to act as Earths first contact for any aliens that may come visiting.
Mazlan Othman, the head of the UN's little-known Office for Outer Space Affairs (Unoosa), will describe her potential new role this week at a scientific conference at the Royal Society’s Kavli conference centre in Buckinghamshire.
