Prince William and Kate to have no servants

Prince William and Kate Middleton will have no servants after they get married.

The pair - who will marry in London's Westminster Abbey on April 29, 2011 - have decided to continue to live a simple lifestyle at William's rented cottage in Wales for the next three years while he finishes his Royal Air Force (RAF) rescue pilot training.

A senior royal source told the Daily Telegraph: "It's very much their instinct to manage on their own.

By contrast Prince Charles, father of Prince William, has 149 servants, 25 of them are personal attention servants!

The future king and queen already do their own cooking, cleaning and shopping at their Welsh cottage where they spend weekends together.

The couple are said to believe a lack of staff at their home will allow them to enjoy a closer, more intimate relationship.

However they will have round-the-clock bodyguards protecting their isolated home.

Royal snub: Barack and Michelle not invited to William and Kate wedding

No wedding invitation for the Obama's from Prince William and Kate Middleton.

Royal sources have revealed that President Obama and his wife Michelle are not going to be invited to the Royal wedding.

Officials in Britain said the wedding is not classed as a state occasion. Besides, as Glenn Reynolds pointed out in his Instapundit blog, the Royal Family already has an iPod loaded with Obama's speeches, so there was no point inviting him just for the gift.

Protesters attack car carrying Prince Charles and Camilla

Protesters enraged by a Parliament vote to triple university tuition rate caps, attacked a car carrying Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, Thursday night.

The demonstrators broke a window and tossed paint on their Rolls Royce, however neither royal family member was injured in the attack.

Frightened out of their wits perhaps but no physical injuries.

Prince William and Kate: lottery tickets for 100 wedding attendees

It has been reported that British royal Prince William and Kate Middleton (pictured) will invite members of the public to their wedding by holding a lucky draw for tickets to the ceremony.

About 100 lucky winners will get to rub shoulders with royals and heads of state at the historic service at Westminster Abbey in London.

They will also be invited to raise a toast to the future king and his queen at the lavish reception, expected to be held at Buckingham Palace.

The exact method of picking which lucky members of the public are to join the Royal shindig has still to be worked out. But it will be completely at random.

Prince Charles: take short showers and avoid tub baths

Take showers instead of baths. Oh, yes … and make the showers shorter.

That's the advice from the Prince of Wales (pictured). You remember him; he's the husband of the Duchess of Cornwall. The 61-year-old British Monarch-in waiting.

Prince Charles has told British families to take shorter showers to help protect the environment.
The instruction came at the end of a list of 20 lifestyle changes recommended by the Prince of Wales for his new green campaign called Start.

He is urging people to "snub the tub" -- give up tub baths in favor of 'short, refreshing' five minute showers - once a week.

Once a week? Are you kidding me?

That should be welcome news to body deodorant manufacturers.

Staff (servants) at Clarence House, the residence of Prince Charles, would not comment on Charles' bathing habits.

Foxes slaughtering Prince Charles' hens

Prince Charles keeps losing his hens to hungry foxes.

His eggs-cellency has lost about 40 of his prize hens to foxes at Highgrove House, Prince Charles' country house and organic garden.

A spokeswoman said the birds were not part of Prince Charles's personal collection, which is used to supply eggs to the Royal Household.

The hens were part of a flock of about 170 kept in an orchard at Highgrove that supply organic eggs to the prince's Veg Shed farm shop in Tetbury.

British Queen said to be shedding pounds

Queen Elizabeth II (pictured) is shedding pounds by living more frugally -- if living on 7.9 million pounds ($12.3 million) can be called frugal.

At any rate she is cutting spending and putting off palace repairs as royal finances are squeezed by Britain's budget crisis.

The 84-year-old queen is in Toronto, Canada for a visit.

The electric blackout in Toronto during her visit is really not what the Queen had in mind for cutting down her use of resources.

The power outage was caused by an explosion at a Toronto power facility.

A report at the first link below says the total public cost of supporting the monarchy was 38.2 million pounds ($57.8 million) for last year.

In an attempt to minimize the cost to support the monarchy, the report says it is the equivalent to 62 pence (94 cents) per person. However, that's only part of the story because it is taxpaying Brits who actually support the monarchy.

There are millions of Brits who do not pay taxes for one reason or another. Consequently the share per person for those who actually support the Queen is much higher than 62 pence!

Prince Charles embraces frugality - really

The report at the link below is about Prince Charles (pictured) the 'poor little rich boy.' It is titled, Royal in Recession: Prince Charles embraces frugality.

Charles, the Prince of Wales, doesn't exactly have to save for a rainy day: he collects Aston Martins, has three chauffeurs, and holds overseas investments totaling at least $68 million.

But as Britain copes with a bleak economic forecast and austerity measures meant to tackle its $230 billion deficit, the future king has embraced a royal version of frugality sure to make playboy princes around the world quiver: he's cutting back on canapés
and hosting drinks parties instead of lavish dinners.

The last year he even reduced his official spending by almost four and one half percent!

Prince Charles and the genie

The following is a paraphrased account of Prince Charles and the proverbial genie in a bottle:

Prince Charles was driving around his mother’s estate when he accidentally ran over her favorite Corgi dog.

He got out of his Range Rover wondering what to do when he saw an old lamp on the ground.

He picked up the lamp and a genie appeared and said he would grant one wish.

"Well," said the Prince, "I have all the material things I need, but let me show you this dog."

They walked over to the lifeless remains of the dog. "Do you think you could bring this dog back to life for me?" the Prince asked.

The genie carefully looked at the remains and shook his head. "This body is too far gone for even me to bring it back to life. Is there something else you would like?"

The Prince thought for a minute, reached into his pocket and pulled out two photos. "I was married to this beautiful woman called Diana," said Prince Charles, showing the genie the first photo. "But now I love this woman called Camilla," and he showed the genie the second photo. "You see Camilla isn’t beautiful at all, so do you think you can make Camilla as beautiful as Diana?"

The genie studied the two photographs and after a few minutes said, "Let’s have another look at the dog".

Prince Charles urged environmentalists to follow the Islamic way to save the world.

The outspoken Prince Charles, not known for his intellect, spoke to Islamic studies scholars at Oxford. He told them man's destruction of the world was particularly contrary to Islam.


However, as the photo shows, not everyone in the audience was as interested in the subject as Prince Charles.

Brits are snickering at Hillary's gaffe on Queen’s Birthday

Hillary Clinton has been left red faced after mistakenly sending a birthday message to the Queen a week early.

An official statement from the US foreign policy chief paid tribute to the "Queen’s life and legacy,” despite the fact that the Monarch does not celebrate her official birthday until next weekend.

A spokesman for Mrs. Clinton attempted to make light of the gaffe.

"We were a week early," Philip Crowley joked to reporters in Washington. "It’s is better to give a greeting a week early than a week late.”

No mention if Obama sent along another iPod full of his speeches as a gift to the Queen.

This, after the Obama gift of movies in the wrong format to Gordon Brown and Michelle Obama putting her arm around the Queen (touching the Queen is an unthinkable etiquette breech), surely must have the British thinking how utterly unrefined the American leadership must be!

During a visit to Westminster Kingsway College in London, Prince Charles is shown with catering students in a butchery class.

He appears to be saying to the seemingly disinterested students, “grill them up proper and make it snappy!”

To Americans, this inspection appears to be meaningless. However, the Prince really needs to do something to take up his time while he is waiting for his mother the Queen to die so he can begin his life’s work.
