An extract from grape seeds can destroy cancer cells, US research suggests.
In lab experiments, scientists found that the extract stimulated leukaemia cells to commit suicide.
Within 24 hours, 76% of leukaemia cells exposed to the extract were killed off, while healthy cells were unharmed.
The study specifies grape seed extract not grapes or grape juice.
Some people will probably think that wine would work. There are people looking for any excuse to use an alcoholic beverage.
They will probably select cabernet sauvignon if they can afford it - otherwise they can always pick up a jug of muscatel.
