Boise Idaho: earliest snow on record

According to National Weather Service statistics, the 1.7 inches of snow that fell around Boise on Friday was the earliest measurable snowfall since record keeping began in 1898.

Previously, the earliest recorded snowfall was on Oct. 12, 1969, when a little more than an inch fell.
