University of Alabama changes spelling of Mississippi

In Alabama you spell Mississippi with only one p. But this violates a spelling crutch that also goes back generations in the South:

M-I-crooked letter-crooked letter-I-crooked letter-crooked letter-I humpback-humpback-I."
