Traditional presidential duty passed of to Biden

Laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknowns is the traditional duty of the President of the United States on Memorial Day.

Not this year.

Obama was too busy with his vacation in Chicago and sent Vice President Joe Biden instead.

Above shows Vice President Joe Biden laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknowns, on Memorial Day, Monday, May 31, 2010, at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia.

Mr. Obama was to preside over a separate holiday observance near Chicago later Monday.

Obama will, however, be back in time to honor Paul McCartney at the White House.
