Kagan nominated to replace Paul Stevens on Supreme Court

Solicitor General Elena Kagan (pictured) is the nominee to replace retiring liberal Justice Paul Stevens.

Kagan is known as a moderate, but she may still face questions from Republican senators on the issue of gays in the military.

If confirmed, she would be the youngest member and the third woman on the court as well as the first justice in nearly four decades not to have been a judge.
