Auction of Marcel Marceau memorabilia

Mime Marcel Marceau left behind several debts when he died leading to a court decision to order the auction.

An auction of his belongings has fetched 490,000 euros (680,000 dollars).

Marceau was a Holocaust survivor who was born Marcel Mangel. He is widely credited for reviving the art of mime and bringing it to international attention through his performances.

Mr. Marceau died in 2007 at the age of 84 and was buried in the famed Paris cemetery Père Lachaise.
