Governor Blagojevich keeping up the Illinois tradition

Arrest and detention is nothing new to Illinois politicians. Rod Blagojevich (upper photo), sometimes referred to as “Blago” or even “hot-rod,” appears bent on keeping up the tradition in Illinois.

Former Governor George Ryan (lower photo), a Republican, is currently serving a 6 1/2-year term in federal prison for racketeering and fraud.

Former Governor Otto Kerner, a Democrat was convicted in 1973 on 17 counts of bribery, conspiracy, perjury and other charges and was sentenced to three years in the penitentiary.

Former Governor Dan Walker, a Democrat, was convicted of bank fraud in 1987 ten years after he left office in 1977. Walker was sentenced to seven years in federal prison.
