No Holliday for Rockies or Cardinals

A possible deal to send premier slugger Matt Holliday (pictured) to the St. Louis Cardinals did not materialize. However, the deal to send Holliday from the Colorado Rockies to the Oakland A’s seems to be final.

Holliday, 28, is a three-time Major League all-star outfielder. He finished second to Philadelphia's Jimmy Rollins in the 2007 National League MVP race, when the Rockies won the pennant and went to the World Series for the first time in franchise history.

Rockies fans aren't happy about the news. Holliday is a home-grown talent who has become one of the best players in the league and a fan favorite.

The perception is that Rockies ownership doesn't care about winning because they can't pay all-star players to stay in Colorado.
