Will the GOP fall in the old Donkey trap?

For the last 12 years the Democrats watched as their numbers dwindled in congress.

One of the reasons is because they thought they deserved to win and that would be enough to win elections.

Now the Republicans seem to have fallen into that same trap.

Will it take them 12 years to come to their senses like it did the Democrats?
